Tampico
A vegetable fiber obtained from the Agava Lechuguilla plant,
which grows wild in northern Mexico. The largest volume of
this fiber is shipped from the port of Tampico, Mexico, hence
the name. Water absorption quality makes it suitable for
scrubbing. In the dry state, it is used extensively in floor
and counter brushes.
Pamyra
A vegetable fiber that is
grown on the east coast of India and adjacent islands. The
cinnamon brown colored fiber of medium stiffness is used
as Palmyra. The medium stiff texture, water resistance and
durability make it an ideal product for scrubbing and coarse
sweeping.
Horsehair
The bulk
of horsehair comes from Argentina. The value of the hair
is determined by its length and stiffness, with the price
increasing as the length and relative stiffness increases.
This soft to moderately stiff material is available in white,
black or gray and is used pure or blended with other materials
in floor, counter, window and radiator brushes.
Nylon
A man-made filament available
in a wide range of diameter sizes (.003" to .080"),
with straight (level) or crimped strands and a variety of lengths.
Its excellent resistance to most common chemicals and water
create a multitude of desirable applications for this product.
It is available in black and white (natural color) and is used
pure or blended with other materials in floor, counter, scrub,
and glass brushes.
Plastic
A man-made
product of many varieties, each with its own properties creating
uniqueness from other fibers. We use polypropylene and polystyrene
base products most frequently with the selection based upon
careful testing and analysis for each application. Used in
a variety of floor, scrub, fender, plater and other utility
brushes.
Flagging
Flagged tip
or exploded tips on synthetic ends of fiber are produced
by multiple high speed blades cutting the ends of the fiber.
The “fuzzy” effect is beneficial for trapping
fine dust particles.
